Here we offer the rare translucent blue overlay paperweight from Whitefriars. The core of this weight is a standard 5 ring concentric signed with the friar cane and dated 1973 using the early date cane of blue on white. As always the thickness of the overlay is variable owing to the manner of its creation by dipping a completed weight into the very hot pot of blue colour and there is one small region where this has not quite taken completely although it is not easily noticeable. The setup contains two date canes for 1975. Diameter 31/2", height 21/8".
